How will I measure MY life?

Today was the last lesson with my Management of People at Work (MPW) Professor. He posed us this question last week:

How will you measure your life?

There was an article regarding this by Clayton Christensen where he answers this question with 3 more questions:

1) How can I be sure that I'll be happy in my career?
2) How can I be sure that my relationships with my spouse and my family become an enduring source of happiness?
3) How can I be sure I'll stay out of jail?

I think all these 3 questions are really relevant, even the last one. Maybe some of us might just dismiss the 3rd question but don't. You never know what happens in life.

Christensen also talked about how important it is to know what is the purpose of your life and that, it might be the most valuable thing you ever learn. He goes on by saying that the knowledge we gain from our academics will be applied occasionally in our future but we will definitely apply our knowledge of the purpose of our lives everyday.

That sentence had a great impact on me and just got me thinking. What is the purpose of my life? I know that ultimately whatever I do, it is for the glorification of God but what is the thing I can do best?

Hopefully I can get an answer soon.

I typed out quite a long essay regarding these 2 main questions. Maybe I'll post it up next time~

But in regards to the career-happiness question, I remember a quote that my mum always say,

"I have the best job in the world. I am paid to do what I love best."

As for the relationship-happiness question, my family are my parents now and that's all I can see now in regards to my future. Whether I will have a spouse, I have no idea. But as for my friends, they are definitely my family too.

So, with these questions, I leave you peeps with one last quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that is kept close to my heart.

"Happiness is not a goal...it's a by-product of a life well lived.”

USS - Us Siao Sillies!

Pardon me, that title is not conjured during one of my more genius moments.

So, as the title states, this post is about USS!~

Maybe I should do up the post of me in Disneyland. Though it's just Hong Kong Disneyland, nothing fabulous but still, IT'S DISNEYLAND!!
Okay, back to USS~ Kim and I decided to go there early this year as a day for us to chillax and catch up before our hectic school life takes over whatever remaining social life we have. It was also considered a really late 21st birthday celebration/present for her. Like really late! It wasn't our 1st time there, I think we both went once before, Kim with her family while I went with my Uni friends, Hui Ying, Jon & Eugene.

We went on a weekday which is equivalent to no horrible crowds! As Kim was more familiar with the place, for once, she was my tour guide. =D

We grabbed breakfast at this diner joint which she recommended. Food was pretty good but what I like about the place was the awesome layout and decoration~

I guess I always have a thing for American diner style.

Caught a nice hair flip from Kim~ *Loreal*
During breakfast, we started planning our route for USS~ And this time round, I think I managed to fully enjoy the attractions in USS.

Kim and I caught the musical, the Monster Rock. It's pretty good! Hahaha! Should try to catch it if you can, they have quite a few showings.

One thing I really like is walking down the Hollywood streets of USS. It helps create a soothing feeling for me and I can imagine myself walking down the actual streets.

Of course, there are mascots that are always there to entertain us!
The famous PO!

As CNY was approaching, Kim and I decided to rub his belly for 'cai'. (Cai means wealth) Just kidding~ =P
We saw the Joker running around. hiding behind bins and jumping out now and then to randomly scare passerby. Gotta say, he was really into his role.
Oh yea, check out Kim and my new car! Hahaha! I so wish that that was my car.

And if you see Bumblebee, you get to see...... OPTIMUS PRIME! Wooooohooo! I think I was damn excited when I realize that there was a  Optimus Prime mascot. I was running and jumping to the line and was totally disappointed when the staff told me that I had to wait for the next session. But still, I managed to rush back for the next Meet & Greet session and got my photo with Optimus! =D

Some of the other random mascots around.

We didn't really meant to take a photo with the guy on stilts but then, he was walking around alone and just seemed kinda of sad, so oh well, might as well right?
That's roughly all the mascots that we managed to meet. Was quite sad that I didn't get to see Puss in Boots. ヽ(´□`。)ノ

For the rides, the main one we both wanted to choing for is latest ride: TRANSFORMERS! Thank goodness it was a weekday and the queue was really short and we managed to go on it twice! The ride, is just awesome! Though you might get a little dizzy and at the end of the ride, you MIGHT end up with a sore neck. Kim and I both did.

The next one that I really wanted to go was the B
attlestar Galactica  Roller Coasters! But Kim, having been on it before advised me not to right after our meal 'cos we will feel quite woozy after that. Which was really kinda of true! I felt so 'floaty' after the 1st coaster but we still rushed for the 2nd one right after that! Woohoo~ The ride is really awesome~ Thank goodness there wasn't any crowd and we got front seats for both coasters! This is a must-sit ride! But not after a full meal~ ^_^

We skipped some of the rides, mainly those in Madagascar town as they were more suited for kiddos~ We actually went on the children roller coaster at Far Far Away just for laughs. Kim and I got the whole roller coaster to ourselves! Hahaha! She video-ed down the whole process when we were on the ride and it was just so darn funny.

That day was a really fortunate day for us at USS! When I went to USS previously, the water ride, Jurassic Park Rapids, closed down that very day and was not opened..... until that day we went! We were so exhilarated when we spotted some people in the ride when we were 'flying' over it! Kim was in such a hurry to dash over that she actually left her slippers behind! Whahaha! The ride was really good but I thought the one at Genting is much better~

We took our time to walk around and managed to went twice for the rides that we enjoy~ I met one of my primary school mate there and it was amazing that he recognize me. And it was kinda of scary how he got my attention. It went:
Kai Xun: Joanna!
* Oblivious and deaf Jo*
Kai Xun: JOANNA!
Jo: *turns 1 round* Did anyone call me?
--------Silence----------

*stares at the group of army guys on the Mummy Roller Coaster*
--------Silence----------
Just before the ride left,
Kai Xun: JOANNA!

And so, there was I trying to figure out who yelled my name and had no clue! How could I differentiate my friend, who I have not seen in years in a group of army guys? Hahaha! Later, I only found out when he texted me. Pssft!I told him I thought a mummy was calling out to me.

Another interesting show that you just gotta watch is the WaterWorld Stuntshow!

Their enthusiasm, stunts and playfulness are just so, WOAH! Prepare to get wet! No matter where you're seated at! Kim and I were kinda of gungho, so we sat at the 1st row. It was really fun! Halfway in the show, one of the guys came up to me and hugged me! He was trying to hide from the others so I had to play along. Shan't spoil it for anyone who has yet to watch but it's awesome!
We spend most of our time, we walked around, enjoying the view. That day was pretty hot so we decided to splurge and get ourselves potion bottles! Tadaaa!

Being my retarded self~
(◕‿◕✿)

Some other random photos here:

Welcome to my future palace~

Oh! We spotted this lady drying her clothes and look at her inventive way! Hahaha!

We spotted the Reese mascot after exiting USS and just had to take a picture with it.

And after I tried 'eating' it, the people who were queuing behind us did the same pose. Ahh~ Sorry Reese!
It was a really great but tiring day~ Managed to have a good catch-up session with Kim! Much thanks to Kim's mom and brother, Don for driving me home~ Can't wait for the next one! Cheers to our strong friendship and may it ever grow and never break! ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ

Friends that keep me alive~

I'm trying to consistently blog. Maybe it would help me in expressing my feelings better. Not that I had trouble with them before, especially the negative ones but it's better not to keep things bottled up inside. Had this epiphany when I was discussing some stuff with my Uni friends. Topic was 'Tactful or Fake?'. Well, we did not exactly came up with that topic statement but our content were revolving around that and I thought that it was pretty interesting to ponder upon. After an hour or so of discussing, we saw things from different perspectives and it was really brain-stimulating in some sense. So I thought I would share it out here. What are your views about tact? To what extent would you consider a behaviour 'fake'?

School's coming to an end soon. Week 11 is over and only a few more weeks before my exams start.
(・へ・)

But every cloud has a silver lining and in this case, it means that I'm finally gonna have a life again! It will be time to catch up with friends, do the things that I've been longing for, dramas, read, beach and.................... BANGKOK TRIP!!! Oh yea!

Yeaps, I know I've been rattling on about my July BKK trip since the past few posts but I'm just so dmn excited! And you can bet your hair I'll still mention it in the upcoming posts. =D

Anyway, was trying to clear space in my iPhone and com and realised, I have tons of photos that have yet to see the light and I was thinking, I shall just stuff everything into my blog. =^_^=

So as I was sorting out my photos, I saw some old photos too which made me go:( ゚ Д゚)

It's amazing how people can change. In this case, I mean physically. Looking back at a certain collection of photo I have, I'm always amazed.

Like Joy would always mention, "Why didn't you tell me how horrible I look?"

Well, gotta say, I guess I had little or zilch fashion sense at the age of 6? Hahahaha! But look at her now, big change! Woah!

Photo took from her FB and nah, she's not a mother yet. Just wanted to put a deceiving photo up!

Another collection of photos that will always bring a smile to my face is of my secondary school mates. The way we look and the crazy things we did, oh gosh. Endless!

I found neoprints of Kim and I in 2005? Oh gosh, horrendous. Not going to post it up or Kim might kill me. Actually, I think I might just do it myself.

Secondary school, those were the days. Days where I met some of the best people in my life. Not just the classmates I had, but the teachers. Well, I gotta say, I started having more confidence in myself thanks to the teachers. Sounds really cliche but it's true. Thanks to the mini outburst flare-up that I had in Sec 3, I found friends who were willing to stick by me. (≧∇≦)

Oh gosh, i feel so sentimental now.

BAH!

Hahaha! Hope that didn't freak you out! Yea, I decided to upload some photos of a previous meet-up that I had with my 3 awesome girlfriends!

Looking back, it has been 10 years since we know each other.

KIM! 10 years since we've been pestering each other!

10 years & counting..
Though it has been known that we do not show our affections for each other in the conventional way but still, we managed to survive the horror build up a strong and unique friendship~

Up to this day, even though we don't meet each other as often but whenever we do, we're able to talk like old times and this is one of the things I'm grateful to God. He blessed me with these 3 awesome gals in my life and through them, I've managed to grow even closer to Him. So without further ado, I present to you,

Kimby, Sarah & Evan!

Love these girls and I missed them so. I can't wait till we're all done with school and organize a meet-up again!

Sarah, up to her old tricks.

Evan, looking psychotic-fun!

And Kim, trying to look stern but not having much success~

Like I said, old times. As crazy as ever~

I guess we've really grown. Each of us embarking on different paths now. Can you believe that she's going to be a teacher in the future? Hahaha!

Oh yea, I mentioned in my previous post that I'm taking driving lessons now~ I came across these photos which I took in the past when I was in Kim's car.

She has a row of dogs on her dashboard and goodness know how long it has been there. She claims it was left there by her brother but I bet she's secretly enjoying the torture they had.

Look at the colour difference!

And this is supposed to be a dalmatian. =.=
Poor doggies~ Imagine there's 1 whole row of them.

Oh, and she had a mini car accident the 1st time she drove me around. She caused the loss of an eyeball.

That poor frog rolled down from the dashboard and fell to its death. We mourn the loss of it till this day.

Alright, I hope these photos entertain you as much as they were to me. =D Abrupt ending as my stomach senses Dad's awesome cooking and is starting to sing!

On a side note, I can't wait to catch Hunger Games with Sherwin, Leen & BT tomorrow! Woots!
